Aida Rodriguez García, (PhD) studied Forestry Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (ORCID 0000-0002-5497-5116). She works on the anatomical and physiological relationships of Pinus species with aspects related to health, resin production and its applications to rural development and conservation. Her studies aim to establish how the knowledge of tree structure and function can be applied to improve tapping techniques, which is a hot topic in Spanish resin sector. This knowledge will help to build new strategies to manage the tapping of pine forests for resin extraction. Also, studying how anatomical characteristics of different pine species influence tree susceptibility to the pinewood nematode and the effects of forest fires on tree growth and the system of resin canals.

Currently she is coordinating the Non Timber Forest Products IHub within the GOFORESTS project (2023-2025), funded by the European Horizon 2030 program. Project coordinator of the operational group RESINLAB, “Network of Territories for the promotion of resin activity” (2021-2023) and responsible for the coordination of the Interreg SUDOE SUSTFOREST Plus project, "Strategy and collaborative networks for multifunctionality, conservation and employment in the territory of Southern Europe through resin extraction". (2018-2022).  Responsible for the thematic network of resins in the INCREDIBLE project, Innovation networks for cork, resins and edibles in the Mediterranean basin ' H2020, between 2020-2021.

Coordinator of regional program of tapping activity promotion between 2020 and 2023, responsible for the secretariat of Castilla y León tapping sector sectorial committee, member and co-founder of the European Network of Resin Territories and the Resin Observatory expert group.
